What is Cogent?
Cogent is a Sector Skills Council (SSC), one of 25 organisations licensed by the Government to meet the skills needs of employers in particular industry sectors. Cogent is the Sector Skills Council for the following industries:

- Nuclear
- Pharmaceuticals
- Petroleum
- Oil and Gas
- Polymers

What Cogent Careers website is about
This website is all about careers within Cogent industries. At Cogent, an important part of our activities is to spread the word about the huge range of rewarding careers available in our member industries.
The website will tell you about each of the industries, and will show the opportunities for starting a career and progressing. Through the website you can learn about the broad types of work within each industry, find out about specific jobs, how different people started out and progressed, the qualities and qualifications you need - in short everything you need to get a feel for working within the Cogent sector.
